This Swine Life: Pig Named 6-7 Granted Clemency by Miami Dade County Mayor.

Although not quite at the same level as pardoning holiday birds, but the mayor of Miami-Dade experienced a Donald Trump moment this week by ritually sparing the life of a pig named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava executed the holiday gesture at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the heart of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“This pig is innocent. She deserves this act of mercy. Her criminal record is spotless,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with clear references to the sheer volume of pardons issued from the start of the commencement of a current administration.

“If we disregard eating six or seven apples per day,” Levine Cava continued. “I hope she experiences a lengthy and joyful existence away from worry.”

The gathering, either celebrating or rejecting the region’s Hispanic tradition of eating roast pork during the holidays, was founded to emulate the annual turkey pardoning at the White House.

The animal, donated by a local firefighter, was given its name from the modern linguistic fad of young people exclaiming “six-seven” – deriving from a hip-hop line – often without clear purpose. The phrase became so ubiquitous that a prominent word reference recently named “6-7” its 2025 word of the year.

A Future Secured

This particular pig is now set to enjoy its days at a rural sanctuary “far from charcoal and roasting pans”, according to the ceremony's official statement.

“This swine clemency has become a beloved tradition to kick off the holiday season,” said Eric Castellanos, in a decidedly positive message.

“It captures the spirit of Miami: happy, multicultural, and based in heritage that unite the community. Each year, we are delighted to mark culture and compassion in a way distinctively Miamian.”

Attendees enjoyed a meat-free selection of spinach fritters and strong coffee as they toasted the pig's pardon.
