Recent Particulars Emerge Concerning the Discovery of the Bodies of Rob and Michele Reiner Remains
Fresh particulars have surfaced regarding the untimely demises of acclaimed director Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were found at their residence property on Sunday.
The Discovery
As detailed in an account citing a confidential source, a practitioner arriving for an appointment initially became concerned after being unable to gain access the house. This individual then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides close by.
Upon entering the residence, Romy discovered her father's body. It is said she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, unaware at that moment that her mother's body was also inside. Her roommate who had gone with her contacted 911. Following this, emergency responders located Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Criminal Proceedings
Law enforcement have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of murder in the first degree, including the alleged use of a deadly weapon, reportedly a knife. He is now in custody and is ineligible for bail.
Correcting the Record
The anonymous source questioned several earlier details. They said that while Romy Reiner informed emergency responders that her brother Nick resided in a guesthouse on the property, she did not identify him as a suspect at that time.
Additionally pushed back against published suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been unusually "apprehensive" about Nick's actions in the weeks leading up to the incident. Rather the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."
This correction applies to descriptions of reportedly "unpredictable" behavior by Nick at a gathering hosted by Conan O'Brien on the night before the tragedy. Although the source said they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "scolded" his son at the party, they maintained that claims of a "blow-up" between the two were untrue.
Investigation Details
Per law enforcement officials, the medical examiner had not yet established at that point whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Some media reports noted the state of their bodies suggested they had been dead for a period of time.
Nick Reiner was arrested at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the neighbourhood of Exposition Park, roughly 15 miles from the scene. He was scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, indicated his client had a medical issue and would be unable to attend until no sooner than Wednesday.
