Nigel Farage Claims Teachers of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Race Issues
The political figure stated that educators would initiate walkouts within weeks a success at the polls for his party, charging that they are “poisoning our kids” by instructing students that African-Caribbean youth are oppressed and white children oppressors.
During an event for a Michigan-based religious institution, Farage outlined his viewpoint on the UK education system, claiming that the “Marxist left” had “now in control of our education system”.
“I’m anticipating a teachers’ strike very quickly after winning the next general election,” he remarked during a Q&A session.
“They are poisoning our kids. They instruct children to feel guilt about their nation. They are telling an eight-year-old black child that he is a victim and little Oliver, who is white, who is eight that he is a perpetrator. They are dividing us, not uniting us. They are feeding this harmful mindset.”
Reacting to these assertions, Daniel Kebede rejected the idea that the education system was controlled by Marxists as “nonsense”. Kebede noted that any strikes must relate to educators’ working conditions, and questioned whether Reform would attack these immediately upon entering government.
“The politician has crafted his political career on coded rhetoric and currently, similar to other figures, he is lining up teachers and their unions for a conflict,” Kebede stated.
“This is highly reckless. Neither I nor our union – push critical race theory as he’s suggesting … Should he become prime minister he would sell out our public services, including education … and the outcome would be catastrophic for education and children.”
The party, which is leading the polls by about 10 points, has provided limited specifics on its educational plans and seems not to have appointed an education spokesperson.
Nonetheless, his comments suggested the party would overhaul the educational framework. Farage declared: “We face an enormous task with schooling – truly monumental. And, it won’t happen quickly; it will take us years, a long-term effort to reform.”
Farage expressed that gen Z was more open to critical thinking, but millennials were “absolutely hopeless”.
Paying tribute to a conservative activist, Farage said: “All I want education to do to teach critical thinking – to instruct people that there are two points of view and they should decide for themselves as opposed to current practices where one is virtuous and one is evil. It’s a massive job in both Britain and America.”
The party has conflicted with a major educators’ organization, after Kebede called the party “far right and racist” and dismissed Farage as “a cheap imitation”.
Farage has accused the union head with being “a self-declared Marxist” … an individual intent that our children should be poisoned through education, their thinking tainted regarding national issues” and has argued that the organization seeks to brainwash youth opposed to his party.
Almost one million people are employed in education in the UK, about half of whom are teachers and the others teaching assistants and support staff. The major education union has about 450,000 members.
National strikes over educators’ salaries and work environment in 2023 led to significant interruptions in schools and millions of days of lost learning for students.
During the American gathering, Farage also vowed to promote the digital courses of the Christian college in the UK. He stated organizations like it were “part of the fightback”, adding that: “I mean this. I’ll assist garner hundreds of thousands, if not millions of youth to these educational programs. I make that commitment tonight and I will follow through.”
The college, a small private Christian college, provides complimentary classes. Its website states: “A scientific, literary, theological, political, and moral education is vital for well-being and to perpetuate the blessings of civil and religious liberty. It offers these beautiful courses for no charge to every interested learner.”
