Iran Claims Attack on US Base in Bahrain, During Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed missile attacks throughout the Middle East in response for a significant and continuing assault against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area close to the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any damage is uncertain and the American officials has yet to issue a statement.
Regional Interceptions
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - said they have intercepted missiles in their territorial skies.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the region.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the attack on the Islamic Republic carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That preceding assault - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on locations associated with the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump urging the Iranian people to rise up against the regime.
Regional Fallout
In the State of Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israeli military said it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates announced that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses responded to the missiles with high efficiency and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," it added.
Officials reported missile fragments fell on a residential area in the capital, resulting in some material damage and fatalities.
The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
