Grief as Renowned South African DJ Shot Dead in Johannesburg.
A popular South African media personality and entertainer has been fatally gunned down in the country's largest city Johannesburg, sending shockwaves across a country battling entrenched crime.
Warrick Stock, popularly known as DJ Warras, was attacked in the city centre on Tuesday afternoon.
Officials stated the 40-year-old entertainer was approached by a trio of assailants, one of whom opened fire on him before running away.
The reason behind the incident remains unclear and no arrests have taken place, as per the official statement.
Details of the Attack
Authorities revealed that Stock was attacked as he was exiting a location in the vicinity of the city center landmark.
He had spent several hours at the site supervising the setup of security systems, which had been controversially occupied by squatters, according to reports.
"Authorities believe the deceased was approached by three unidentified men after he parked his car, and they opened fire at him before escaping on foot," a police statement said.
Surveillance tape reportedly depicted a man with dreadlocks and clad in what appeared to be a guard's attire shooting on Stock before making his escape.
The DJ attempted to flee after he was wounded but succumbed to his injuries a short distance away.
Police added that Stock had an unused firearm and no items were stolen during the attack.
Key evidence, like spent shells, were discovered at the crime scene.

Authorities have requested eyewitnesses who may have have information to contact them.
"Our information indicates they covered significant ground after the shooting, and investigators have been following their trail to determine their destination," remarked an authority figure.
Outpouring of Grief
His family member, a close relative, stated the loved ones are reeling to come to terms with the loss.
"Words fail me. I am shattered," were her words.
"Everyone understood he was a champion for numerous individuals. He spoke out bravely about topics not many people were ready to discuss. This is a tremendous loss."
She requested the community to refrain from sharing disturbing footage from the scene, saying this was an deeply traumatic time, particularly for Stock's children.

Stock was the host of Ngicel' iVisa, a reality show that aired on a South African broadcasting platform.
Beyond his work in broadcasting, Stock was involved in various commercial activities, including security provision, providing elite guarding services and managing safety for prestigious gatherings across South Africa.

A government minister remarked he was furious and grief-stricken by Stock's untimely death.
