Football Analyst Sutton Faces Off Against Artist Olly Murs in Top Flight Forecasts
The Gunners' ten-match victorious run was ended by the Black Cats prior to the global hiatus, but will the Premier League frontrunners bounce back against local foes Tottenham this weekend?
"{I feel like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this match," remarked soccer expert Chris Sutton.
"Frank will try to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling finest this season - but Mikel Arteta's team usually still find a way to win."
Sutton is making predictions for all 380 Premier League games this season, against AI, readers and a variety of special visitors.
For week 12, he takes on performer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United fan.
Murs' latest album, Knees Up, is out on the weekend.
Football and Family Experiences
Murs is a skilled footballer as well as a accomplished artist and has been a star of multiple Soccer Aid games over time - but he is not intending a serious comeback as a player.
"{I actually played in a charity game the other night for a mate of mine," he said. "My team was trailing 3-1 when I came off in the 60th minute, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you want!
"I continue to love football, but I hurt my joint a few years ago and it even now isn't where I want it to be. I hope I could play more but the unpredictability of the game means it's too dangerous for me in my profession to do it properly again.
"Plus I am 41 now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am gearing up for the moment that my child or boy chooses to play instead."
Murs and his spouse his partner have two children, their daughter and their son, and he is ready to emulate his dad by taking on the role of their manager.
"I will not force football on our children but I've already told Amelia that if they do get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will probably be coaching their weekend soccer side," he said.
"I watched my nephews play a lot, and I really got into it, and I clearly was involved with a soccer team for a while too.
"My father did it with us when I was a kid, which is likely where I get it from. He managed our team for several seasons and had great fun with it. That could be the next step for me as well, and I am excited to it!"
Top Division Predictions
Weekend, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
The Blues may have to wait a bit longer for their star's return from injury but their attack is already more potent with Pedro and Liam Delap both returned to fitness.
In my opinion this fixture will be quite tight, though. Burnley are well organised and their sole home losses so far have been against Liverpool and Arsenal.
This suggests a 1-1 tie to me, but I am in fact going to go with Chelsea to win narrowly for what would be their third consecutive league win in a row.
The expert's forecast: 1-2
The singer's prediction: Chelsea will be superior. 1-3
Artificial intelligence's prediction: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Cherries have lost their previous couple games - albeit both of them were on the road - but they got absolutely spanked by Aston Villa last time out which shocked me.
On the other hand, West Ham won two in a row before the international break and, although both of those fixtures were at their stadium, they appear competitive again.
The Hammers' only on the road victory this campaign came at Nottingham Forest in the summer, when West Ham boss Nuno Espirito Santo was still Forest manager.
Therefore, what exactly do I go with here - can West Ham extending their run under Nuno, or the home side bouncing back?
I am going to choose the Cherries, because I think what occurred against Aston Villa was a blip.
Sutton's forecast: 2-0
The guest's prediction: The home team are doing well but West Ham have picked up under Nuno. 2-2
AI's prediction: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
Brentford were considered one of the favourites for the drop before the season started, but they have surprised a several observers under their manager and are in fine fettle with three in their past four games.
My son advised me to select Bees striker Igor Thiago in my fantasy soccer squad a few weeks back and, guess what, I didn't listen.
The forward will likely find the net again on Saturday but I am nonetheless not going to select him or back Brentford at Brighton's ground.
The Bees have not had much fortune on the road this season, and Brighton are always decent at their stadium. The visitors will try to hit them on the counter-attack but I feel Fabian Hurzeler's side carry much more of a threat.
The analyst's prediction: 2-1
Olly's prediction: This could be one of those games where you expect there is going to be a lot of scores but it actually turns out to be rather tight. 1-1
The computer's prediction: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
This is a huge fixture for Fulham, who have lost five of their last six matches.
They have got lots of quality in their squad but it still feels like they could be dragged into a relegation battle.
Regarding Sunderland, indeed they are the unexpected success of the Premier League campaign so far.
Their performance in the 2-2 draw with Arsenal last time out was excellent. We've not seen any other team rough up the North London side like that this season, and they were more than a match for them.
The logical choice to do to back the Black Cats here, because they are obviously able of roughing Fulham up too and, the previous occasion they were in west London, they defeated the Blues at the close of October.
But I am not choose that. Rather, I truly need to carry on going against the away team with my forecasts. I am taking a lot of credit for their good outcomes because they clearly enjoy to defy my predictions.
Looking at Fulham's at Craven Cottage form, the only side they have been defeated by is Arsenal. Their manager's team will be extremely eager for a good outcome, so I am going to say they will pick up three much-needed points.
Sutton's prediction: 1-0
The guest's choice: I know the visitors are performing strongly and additionally that the hosts are on a poor run... but Fulham have still been respectable at Craven Cottage this season. 2-0
The algorithm's prediction: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
This is a tough one to predict. The Reds have lost seven of their past 10 matches in every tournament, but could they be among the sides who profit from the {international break|
