Ex- Doctor Accused of Assault Charges Involving Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care

Prosecutors report that a former doctor stands accused of committing assaults involving thirty-eight individuals who were under his care.

The Grave Charges

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of sexual offences – comprising acts against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 to 2021.

A senior CPS official said, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

Scope of the Investigation

These allegations come after what investigators described as a “detailed inquiry” into alleged assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.

The defendant is due to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

List of Charges

Prosecutors said the 45 charges he is charged with:

  • 15 counts of sexual assault.
  • 17 counts of penetrative assault.
  • Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
