Brian Eno Encourages Support to Propel Together for Palestine Lullaby to UK Holiday Chart Peak.

A campaign is aiming to launch a traditional song from Palestine to the Christmas number one spot. The project seeks to send support to communities in Gaza while also showcasing Palestinian cultural expression.

An Opportunity for Solidarity and an "Chart Upset"

Musician and artist Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a moment to show solidarity with Palestinians over the Christmas period. He noted the potential for an unlikely festive coup.

“That would be amazing if that occurred, yes,” he said. “I’m not gonna be completely disheartened if it fails to, Christmas singles are a unique phenomenon.”

Powerful Theme of Dignity and Freedom

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the version of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's resilient spirit.

“It has a very special place for many individuals,” Barghouti said. “The message is that I would rather die in dignity than live a life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we want to live a life of dignity that we deserve as Palestinians.”

Recording Origins and Contributing Musicians

The song was recorded in the wake of a solidarity show held in the autumn. First conceived to be captured during the live event, the piece was shelved during the concert due to time constraints.

The notable list of musicians appearing on Lullaby includes a range of well-known figures from the scene. All participated in the earlier concert, which successfully generated a significant sum for charitable causes.

Production and Release

Lullaby was produced by a trio of music creators. The single showcases a fusion of the original Arabic with contemporary English verses.

The team running the campaign have stated that their aim is to generate maximum funds for a dedicated fund. These proceeds will be channeled to Palestinian causes through an non-profit partner.

“We don’t have a rigid aim,” a representative commented. “We will pursue whatever we can get. Obviously, the higher the total, the greater the impact. Every penny goes out to the people of Gaza.”

The situation in the area was described as its widespread damage, with a huge proportion of buildings reportedly levelled or seriously harmed.

“In that context, a handful of millions doesn’t make an enormous impact. But I think what truly matters is primarily raising awareness for this issue and demonstrating there’s another side to the story.”

The track is set to be released at the end of the week. Additionally, a complete film of the benefit event will be made ready to watch on a major video platform from the 19th of December.
